The weather finally cooperated, so we could take a walking field trip to our neighborhood Kroger. What an exciting day for the children who are learning about MYPLATE, the new nutrition guide that replaces the old food pyramid. We learned about cheese, tasted fresh fruits, saw the huge Maine lobsters and found our favorite cereal. Best of all, we took pictures on the iPad of a food item on MYPLATE. Officer Grisso and a stylish K2 mom helped us safely cross the busy street. Fun + nutrition = happy child! And happy teacher too.

Digital Dinos
Roar! The dinos really came to life when we had a special lesson from our technology guru, Ms. Dowdy. K2 spent an afternoon in the lab creating a dinosaur on KidPix. We also learned to add a text box and wrote our name and one sentence on the creations. Next came a lesson in "save as" and "print". These young learners are gaining independence, creativity and confidence with technology.
Hats Off
We have been learning about great characters in history who are known for wearing tall hats. One is fiction and the other is non fiction. Can you tell what we're studying?
Learning Chess
We are grateful for parents who take time out of their day to volunteer in the classroom. Look who's teaching the kiddos to play chess!

Happy Valentine's Day
Hearts and candy and kindness were the order of the day. We started first thing in the morning by passing out our valentines, made with tender care. Then we played some fun math games with a valentine theme. After Mrs. Keith read one of her favorite books, GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU?, it was time for lunch. And before long, it was time for....THE PARTY! Valentine Bingo, Pin the Kiss on Mrs. Keith, craft making and those ooey gooey sundaes. It's a good thing this decadent holiday only comes around once a year. But rest assured the K2 love lasts all year long.
