Wood and Paper

In science, we have been learning about wood and paper.  Who knew a piece of sandpaper would generate such intrigue and excitement.  The scientists were challenged to change the shape of wood with a piece of sandpaper.  You can't imagine the squeals and thrills that followed.  Oh yea...let the sanding begin!

After sanding their pieces of wood, Mrs. Keith had an idea.  That little bench that needed a makeover was needing a good sanding.  So, why not have the children continue their sanding experiment?  This might have been more fun that a trip to Six Flags.  The only reply when asked how they liked sanding: "Mrs. Keith, this is aaaaawesome."

Now our sanded bench is all ready for a new coat of paint.  Extreme Makeover, made easy!

Dinosaur Research

This is definitely not the way WE learned about dinosaurs!  K2 loved being anthropologists and using the latest technology to read about these carnivores  and herbivores and omnivores.  The iPads even allowed students to hear the sounds that scientists think dinosaurs might have made.

Salad Bar

Look what's fresh and delicious and new at lunch!  The Lakeside salad bar made its debut today and the children were eager to give it a taste test.  Everyone gave it a "thumbs up".

Green Eggs and Ham

Could we really learn about Dr. Seuss without trying his tempting recipe: green eggs and ham?  It was definitely an exciting way to cap off our week of studies.  At snack time, we mixed up a few dozen eggs and added a little green drop or two.  The "ooooooohs"  and "aaahhhhhs" were loud and clear.  Some children even asked for seconds!  You will notice some creative costumes here, too, because the children were allowed to come to school today dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss book.  If you look closely, you'll see some special nametags.  Ask your child about his or her pen name.
