Winter Surprise

Turns out that little groundhog was right. The famous, furry weather forecaster "called it" and proved his worth when snow fell unexpectedly today. We couldn't contain the excitement so we decided to get busy with our regular Friday Nature Walk!

Snow Days

Two unexpected days off, due to weather, brings out the scientist in us! We filled two bowls with a snow+ice mixture. One bowl was room temperature and the other was outside for a while to get chilled. Then....we predicted.

Then we waited and watched.

And who predicted the closest?? It was Sonia. This bowl of snow and ice took 4 hours and 8 minutes to melt.

Chinese New Year

It's extra special when K2 parents help teach about life, cultures and holidays!

Mystery Leader

K2 definitely gets excited as soon as a Mystery Reader walks into our classroom. But when it's a Mystery LEADER, it's excitement and intrigue. We try to guess who the leader is and what job they hold in our community or school district. Mary Kemper, Director of Mathematics and Penny Tramel, head of Curriculum & Instruction, thrilled us in February with engaging lessons.

Thank you, Mrs. Kemper, for the bracelets that also serves as a math tool.

Thank you, Mrs. Tramel, for the cool
smelly markers.

Fixing Our Clothes

One of my favorite things when teaching about fabric is letting the children use my sewing machine to fix a hole in one of their pieces of clothing. I'm right there with them, but THEY do the stitching.
What a feeling of accomplishment.

Kroger Field Trip

Learning about food is eye opening as we take a walking field trip to Kroger. Thanks to our good neighbor, we take over the store and explore the five food groups.

The seafood section always brings squeals of delight as we learn about lobsters and have the chance to safely hold one!

Our friends in the Coppell Police Department help us cross the street. Thank you to our community workers who give us real life lessons.
