Across the Ocean

Some of you know I had the ultimate experience at spring break by leaving the beautiful Turks & Caicos beach to visit a school filled with eager young learners. It was very moving (on many levels), and motivated me to help the children on this small underpopulated Caribbean island. If you have easy read books your child has outgrown, please send them my way and I'll get them to these wonderful children. Their classrooms are in need of supplies!

Green Eggs and Ham

Celebrating Dr. Seuss is always fun but things get rather interesting after reading GREEN EGGS AND HAM.  This book is custom made for a taste test! First, we talk about how to make the eggs turn green. There are many interesting theories and then one student suggests we use BLUE food coloring. That generates another discussion about why BLUE is the right choice. We also predict if we'll like the green goodness and create a picture graph. No wonder Dr. Seuss is beloved. He made reading and learning fun!!

Week in Review

Some snow. Some ice. Some rain. A day off school and a week of indoor recess. But spirits and energy run high every day, especially the week before spring break. Here are some highlights!

Frozen indeed! Look what Avery's mom made.

The learning never stops during indoor recess.

"Friday Free Write" in journals brings out the best of talents!

Our former colleague Mrs. Neuman delights all of kindergarten with a classic book and her own little characters.

Don't forget: it's an entire week of celebrating Dr. Seuss as soon as we return from spring break.
