Time Away from the Office

We all know Mrs. Arnt is the school secretary, which means she runs the school.  So where does she go when needing a little time away from the office?  To K2, of course, where she recently entertained the learners with one of her favorite books about squirrels.  Did you know squirrels have stinky feet?  She shared that fun fact (and more) about these fuzzy tailed friends.

Pajama Parade

Our pajama drive has K2 excited and engaged!  We can't imagine what it's like to be without PJ's at night.  So these caring learners are making posters, poems, songs and skits to get everyone at Lakeside interested in the hopes that they'll donate a pair.  Scholastic matches each pair of pj's with a book, so this learning is double the fun and double the benefit.  And what better way to kick off the pajama drive than a pajama parade?

 

Second Grade Buddy Class

A big surprise was in store for us when we visited our second grade "Buddy Class".  The big kids were performing poems and we saw some great performances.  It's always a treat to visit another classroom, especially when it's the big kids.  Wait a minute?  Isn't that the big sister of a K2 student?  :)

Scarecrow Day

We dressed as scarecrows, but let's be honest....these faces couldn't scare anyone.  Nothing is as much fun as celebrating autumn with Scarecrow Day and a parade around the school to wave to our Lakeside friends and our wonderful families.

Mix It Up

Kindergarten is all about routine.  But every now and then, we all need a change.  Take a look at the new way children were seated at lunch recently. Birthday seating is a great way to "Mix It Up".  This encourages conversations with new friends.

Going to the Library

There are always lots of books to chose from when we go to the library each Tuesday morning.  And these smart readers are now checking out books on their own.  All it takes is a little patience, some collaboration and click, click, click.  Amazing. This really builds self confidence. And here's another benefit:  More time to read with self check-out, too.
